I always had this theory, that cinema was one of the first thing that truly entertained the cave man.
The drawings discovered in ancient caves are indeed ‘still’ but maybe with a little help of a fire place and maybe some special mushrooms, perhaps at some point those images would start moving.
My idea in this video was to slow down Chaplin’s face expressions, to reveal a darkness that maybe the cinema-speed doesn’t reveal in full.
I imagined how a cave man would draw Chaplin and how that hallucinate-induced ‘moving picture’ would look like in his embryo-cave.
The sound is the original score of Chaplin’s movies slowed down.
